Shivas eye or Shiva shell is believed to open the third eye. It is associated with the flow of life and the harmonisation of Te ao wairua (spiritual world) and Te ao kikokiko (living world).
The shell is named after Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. It is said that Shiva makes up one part of trimurtia, a triad of three powerful Hindu gods. His role is quite complex given that he is known as the destroyer and although he represents destruction he also represents regeneration.
Some other titles and roles he is known for is dancing, spiritual knowledge and fertility. Although Shiva is depicted in many forms the most consistent iconic physical attribute is the third eye.
